The native plants scattered about my property offer year round fascination and inspiration. As we planted native gardens over the last several years, an added bonus was that native plants filled our yard with a sense of peace and vitality. Native plants do more than just bloom and provide for pollinators and wildlife. They grow on you, instilling a desire to see things differently. To understand the cycles of nature and turn away from the notifications of life, and turn toward the delicate flight of a butterfly. They slow your pace and encourage you to look toward the beautiful connections taking place during the seasons. The silence of winter or a new bloom in spring. If I sat in my native plant garden with my eyes closed, I could tell the time of year. That is the beauty of seeing the seasons through the lens of native plants. I write about what inspires me and I learn as I go.
