It started with a bird.
One day, nearly ten years ago, a migratory bird I didn’t even recognize landed on a post in my yard. I just stood there, completely stunned—eyes wide, heart racing, and this strange, beautiful feeling washing over me. At the time, I had no idea that moment would change everything.
That bird marked the beginning of something much bigger: a slow, steady transformation of my yard into a native habitat… and of myself into something I hadn’t fully claimed yet—a nature writer.
Flutter By Meadows grew from that moment of surprise and wonder. It’s a space where I share what I’ve learned (and am still learning) about native plants, the creatures that depend on them, and the joy of watching life return, one species at a time. But more than that, it’s a home for the stories I used to keep to myself—sketches, thoughts, little discoveries that might otherwise drift by unnoticed.
I grew up in the Sourland Mountains and now live with my family in Hopewell Valley. My roots are here, and so is my passion. With every bird sighting, bee buzz, and bloom, I’m rediscovering what it means to belong to a place—and I want to help others do the same.
Whether you’re curious about starting your own native garden, looking for inspiration, or just love a good story about a bird showing up in the right place at the right time, I’m so glad you’re here.
Welcome to Flutter By Meadows.
